boiler,
don't know about those other guys, but last night after work i went by my local video rental place and the owner hired me, for the third time. he wants lots of shelving built. so i have work for part of the summer when i'm off from work.
hope everyone stays busy.

Hi boiler bay ,
There has been some activity and I have been busy and have perhaps a few months work now but I am hoping this is the start of a turn around .
Some shops are busy and some are dead , I'm not complaining .
Here is a look at a QSWO kitchen door and drawer front with an applied Jatoba bead , I'm sure there will be more options like this to come in the future from me .
Steelhead are solid in the Rogue , wishin I was fishin
regards dusty
Love the bead... what finish for the QS?
Back to work hoping my desk looks half as good...
Sarge..
Thanks Sarge ,
The job was sprayed with Rudd brand Dura Cat , a pre cat lacquer in a semi gloss . Smoothest finish I have ever done in 35 years of spraying .
regards d
dusty,
Ohhhhhh thanks. Nice, clean and just the right detail.

I love that bead detail too. Great combo of woods. Thks for sharing those.

Brad , that's how we all learn .

Dusty,Those are some very nice looking pieces!
Am surprised the steelys are still that far down river....You know some of the best new furniture design occur during fishing expeditions. Get thee to the River!BB
dusty,
my fishing's been mostly catch and release the last few years. seems a bit more challenging that way, landing fish, rather than lunch, i mean. i hope to make it up to corvalis this summer. i love being in oregon during summer.
i think that bead work is beautiful. the red toned woods seem to make a good embellishment/contrast wood in conjunction with white oak. i've done similar work and very much like the results.

Eef,
If you flyfish grind off the barb; gives new meaning to catch and release.

bob,
about the only fishing i do these days is surf. the pacific ocean, to the west of me, serves perfectly for this. one uses a light -weight rod and light test line. wearing shorts, no shoes, hat and long sleeved shirt wade into the shallow surf and find bait underfoot as sandcrabs. the best are 3/4" long and bearing a sticky clutch of orange eggs. hooked with a #6, cast line and eggy-crab directly into the breaking surf, retrieve slowly and more than likely get hit by the lovely and lively pacific barred surf perch.
after a day of this one can then watch the last sunset of the day in the continental usa, drink beer, be grateful etc.

Eef ,
You must not be fishin near L.A. ,,,, there couldn't possibly be any mutant free species left there . I fished those waters 40 - 50 years ago and it was wonderful .
dusty
dusty,
ahem, the pacific barred surf perch is hardly a mutant.hope ya'll are having a good sunday. for myself, i'm off to el desierto for a few days. commune with the lizards, bugs and snakes, not to mention the myriad avians flitting around. the fishing'll have to keep till summer.
eef
Same up here except sand shrimp /some times a salmon egg wad.
All this talking about fishing sure doesn't make me want to think about the business! It may be time for a few days off.Matthttp://www.oldgreenwoodworking.com
I've been away from the computer for 2 weeks, on vacation and deliberately out of touch... just got back yesterday. As it happens, during the time I was away a whole pile of new projects came in, some 5 different kitchens. So should I perhaps learn something from this?

Take more vacations? I like that idea. Play more, get more commissions.
Lets see, If I take 50 weeks a year off....Good that it's starting to turn around.RegardsBoiler
