In FWW 166, Peter Gedrys suggested adding a product called “sandarac”, from Kremer Products, to dewaxed shellac “to make sanding easier”. The product arrived in granular form. My questions are: do I grind it like I do shellac?, then do I dissolve it in denatured alchohol like I do shellac?, if so, how much alchohol to how much sandarac? Thank you someone in advance for helping me wih this project. Hadley Perdue

Yes, you are planning to use it in a spirit varnish so DNA is the right solvent, especially if you are planning to mix with shellac. Smaller particles will dissolve faster than larger. The concentration won't be important--roughly the same pound cut as you mix the shellac will be fine. By the way it is a tree resin.
Thank you, Steve, for your helpful and prompt guidance. Respectfully, Hadley
