Hi I did trans tint dye, water based,, wiped on about an hour age. added a fan and appears dry on surface now, but I am sure moisture is still in wood. How soon is safe to shellac w/o trapping moisture concerns? Thank you Dave

You won't go wrong waiting overnight especially if the weather is damp.
Good advice, SA. I agree.

Kevin
While I don't think it is a good practice, I have put on a water based die in the morning, applied fresh shelac, sanded lightly (320 ROS to knock the grain down), and had a coat of laquer on before the day was over. All this in Houston's humid spring. I agree that a day would be better, but if you are rushed to get a job out it can be done.
