There is no problem–it works very well–but I can’t figure out how the clamping mechanism works! It just does. Screw the wing nut and everything tightens up, even though the eyebolt doesn’t move and cannot twist.
If you know how this works, please explain.

It appears that when you turn the wing nut, it pushes out against the rear clamping block above the hinge, which forces the bottom in. I'm attaching the picture so others can see what we're discussing.
I made one that is similar, but since I have a Biesemeyer fence iamde it to just clamp on the front rail, like the fence does.
