I would like to try out a hot dog that Lie Nielsen uses on some of there planes. ( # 9 ) But I am to cheap to buy one. I am wondering if anyone can confirm that the hot dog is held in place with a socket set screw? Thanks in advance for your time.

Yes, I can confirm. I'm still not sure that I like it! I'm leaning toward the handle they used to provide tapped into the sides. It works well but, I shoot with both sides of the plane and it's a pain to take off and put on.

Just wanted to say that I made a hot dog the other day. I used it today with the handle LN supplies and it was the best. I had more control and the ease of it was sweeet. I am just using a friction fit to hold it in place so switching sides with it is easy. Give it a try. A 1/8" saw cut is all I used. Happy holidays to all. Bogart
Bogie,
I have large hands. Do you think a keilbasa will work just as well?

Unless there's a sauerkraut option, I'm not interested.

Just don't try to make your own on your SawStop.
Every time I tried, the cartridge fired!

Steve,
I don't relish that option either.
