I’ve just unpacked a parcel from Ron (www.hocktools.com) that includes new Hock irons and chip breakers for my family of bench planes and my two spokeshaves, and (an afterthought while I was writing the order) a blade for a marking knife.
Can anyone show or tell me what a suitable handle might look like? The blade has a couple of holes in the shank, and I want to make a handle.

By the way you treat your block plane consider nailing it to the side of a piece of pressure treated 4*4 fence post with a couple of fin nails <g>
Yeah I thought of that.
Too flash!
Would look out of place in my workshop.
I think I'll just wrap it and wrap it in duck tape until it's thick enough.
I did that once before and it worked fine, once I'd gotten my fingers untangled.
Here's my home made job with a cocobolo handle.

Nice
I've been using mine today without a handle, and wondering about leaving it like that.
Or maybe I'll sandwich the blade between a couple of scraps of wlnut or rosewood.
Somehere, I've seen double-ended brass bolts that attach in the middle - with two decorative ends - anyone know what I mean, and where I can get them?
Kiwimac,
If you don't mind too much temptation....you might take some time to look at http://www.mjdtools.com and the auctions lists for some handle ideas. I just got stuck on there for about an hour....
