Any info on the new Hitachi C10LA tablesaw ?
Sounds like it could be a nice saw.

The FWW editor review of it is favorable (big, flat cast iron table, good fence), but it looks pretty whimpy when compared to the Grizzly 1023SL, ($88 more with shipping) which has been out for years and has a great track record. I haven't trusted Hitachi since that marketing crap they put out with their last table saw. Look at the difference in the hand-wheels, switch and cabinet.
My prejudice aside, the 1023SL has a 3HP motor, the Hitachi is a 1.5 -- not any better than my old Jet contractor's saw. It might be hard to find anyone who's actually used one. Their last saw was a bust. Sorry, tired and grumpy.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Forestgirl, 'cept I'm not tired... ;-) It's essentially a high priced hybrid, and at that asking price it's not very competitive with the other top hybrids, let alone a "true" 3hp cab saw.
I'm surprised by FWW's favorable review. It looks a great deal like their $500 C10 FL with a full enclosure for 240% more money. ..I always thought FWW was a bit more value conscious than that. It's really stripped for a saw in this price range.... appears to have steel wings and an aluminum fence with 2-piece rail that looks pretty poor compared to a Biese or good clone.
I suppose the saw might be fine, but perhaps a more pertinent question is what advantages does it have over other $1200 saws? It looks more like a decent $600 saw to me. The listed features don't equate to a good value relative to others from my observations. Name another saw in that price range, and chances are good you'll find several advantages in favor of the "other" saw dollar per dollar....Griz 1023, SF 1677, Steel City 35601/35606/35610, Craftsman 22114/22124, the new Jet Supersaw, GI 50-220, Griz G0478, DW746, Delta 36-715/716/718, and even some Unisaw and Jet 3hp cab saw deals all fall at or below that price range and offer what IMHO are several advantages and proven track records.

Here we are, Knotscott, armed with shovels, standing at the grave. ROFL! I'd love to meet the numbskull at Hitachi who's coming up with these ideas!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I know....Hitachi has alot of great products that are good values, but these last two TS offerings have missed the mark by a wide margin IMHO.
It's like they're trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Oh, well.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
