Hello All, I saw with great delight the article about Doug Mooberry’s Sea Chest on the back of Fine Woodworking issue # 210 and really admire both the piece and quality of the wood. Where do you fine wood of this high end quality? Thanks,

Don,
I'm in Boca and use a couple of resources. You can go to General Hardwoods just off of State Road 84. They're nice people and have a pretty good selection of hardwood. You can also look at the ads in the back of FWW. I've had good experiences with Groff and Groff and Niagara Lumber. I found that I could buy cherry cheaper from Niagara than I could buying it locally...even with the freight.

Their wood is so good that they use the term "wood porn". They have some REALLY GOOD STUFF. Of course, it comes with a price. I believe that spending money on wood makes more sense than spending money on tools. No one will ever even think about what tools you used to make a piece of furniture, but if you make it with OUTSTANDING WOOD, they will drool all over it.
Have fun. Happy New Year. I think you are on the right track. Of course, that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
