I have been trying to find any books or blueprints for making hidden or secret locks, latches you name it. If you have seen the movie National Treasure, with the resolute desk, with its trick door… that is what I am looking for. For instance, I built a hidden bar for a client, wanted to do some kind of hidden latch sequence to get the door to open. Tried magnets and some other latches but really did not work to well. Now I am building him a office and would like to do some hidden storage areas and drawers. If anyone knows of some good books, Please let me know.
Thanks
Chad

Metabo HPT C12RSH2 Miter Saw
This saw has a similar design to the best overall Makita, but it falls short because of small details that add up. First and foremost are the poor ergonomics. I find vertical handles cumbersome. The bevel lock was frustrating too. The tilt lever was at the back of the saw, meaning the tool can’t sit tight to the wall. There are no bevel detents. It’s the only saw without a flip stop, meaning you have to reset it between cuts. Still, the saw has a compact design, and it’s the most affordable of the bunch. The side extension arms have slick levelers, too.
Black & Decker BDERO600 5-in. Random Orbit Sander
- Fair stock removal and dust collection without a vacuum - Fair stock removal and poor dust collection with a vacuum - Sander has a regular pulse in use - Paddle switch was awkward, but the on/off lock was handy - Comfortable, but cramped waist made holding there often uncomfortable - Slow to stop
DeWalt DWE6423 5-in. Random Orbit Sander
- Stock removal was poor - Dust collection was near the bottom without a vacuum, but very solid with one - Roomy waist leaves plenty of options for gripping

I'd be interested in such a book myself. But if you do a Search on this website, using "secret drawers, hidden drawers", or some similar wordings, you'll find a few articles that show some such designs. Probably other WW'ing magazine websites as well.
