I currently have a low end spraygun. I would like to invest in a better HVLP spraygun soon. I was hoping to stay below $300 if possible, but am willing to spend more if needed. I have a 25 gallon compressor which seems to be powerful enough for me now. I use pre-cat finishes when spraying. And seem to like gravity feed sprayguns. My current spraygun has a plastic feed tank. I like being able to see the fluid level in the tank if possible. If you have any ideas of a spraygun that might fit my needs please let me know. Tips are also welcome. Thanks for your time.

In addition to suggestions received here, you might consider contacting Jeff Jewitt at http://www.homesteadfinishing.com. He carries an extensive array of spray gun lines, which he has personally used, and he likely has experience spraying your desired finish as well. I've never found Jeff to be less than 100% honest.
Try the folks at spraygunworld.com. They have just about any gun you'd ever want. I recently bought a DeVilbiss CVi gun with both HVLP and their new TransTech capabilities. I paid $338, with no sales tax (I'm not in California) and free shipping.
This gun is a suction feed, and can be used as a pressure feed with a paint pot, and it sprays like a dream....hardly any overspray, and it's a real miser on material (I use 20-25 pounds of air pressure). It's also very lightweight.
To be honest, I haven't even tried the HVLP version...it came with the TransTech nozzle, fluid needle and air cap installed, and I've been so happy with the way it is, I've left it alone so far. (They say that TransTech is as good as HVLP for transfer rate.)
I realize that you want a gravity feed, and they have all kinds of those...just wanted to brag up my new toy!
Happy shopping, and let us know what you get.

GR:
I recently upgraded to an Iwata LPH 440 (do a Google search and you should get a number of professional reviews). This gun was recommended to me by our local automotive paint store.
Iwata, like Festool, have standard prices so you will get the same deal on line as at your local dealer.
I combined this with the 3M paint preparation system, which makes clean-up a snap.
I couldn't be more pleased with this gun. It's an absolute pleasure to use and lays down a wonderful finish. Yes it was pricey, but it's the last spray gun I will buy. My local dealer offered to take it back if I didn't like it.

Hastings
Thanks all for the tips. I'll make some calls to the folks at those sites and make a choice.
