Does anyone have any experience with the Craftsman 10 inch 3 H.P. industrial table saw? Catalog #0922694N
Yesterday I walked into a Sears catalog store and there was a 1299.00 tablesaw sitting on the floor marked down to 999.00 and then down to 699.00. I asked the sales person why the saw was discounted so much and the response was that Sears sent them the saw by mistake at which time they unpacked it and partically set it up and discarded the crate. Now Sears would rather sell at a deep discount rather than take it back without pakaging.
It seems this saw well built if you disreguard the blade guard/splitter and miter guage. The fence was not assembled so I do not know the quality.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you can get it with an extended warranty, it would be worth considering. My wife and I purcahsed a "Floor model" nordic trac ellliptical execrise machine at a 50% discount from sears. It broke about 8 mos later, and they delivered a brand new model to my house, installed.
Craftsman has, however, let me down in the past. I've gone through an orbital sander, a worthless router, and a flimsy table saw. It's not what it use to be. I no longer buy their tools.
That said, without seeming too contradictory, I would look into what tool company makes that particular saw for craftsman.
If that table saw you're looking at is a belt driven 3hp motor, then you should be able to slice through quite a bit of stock. That's very powerful. The dewalt 746 contractor saw has a 1 3/4hp belt driven, which is great. I've had my eye on that one at Lowe's for about $750.
I hope this was somewhat helpful.
Caveat emptor.
This is Craftsman, not Delta or Grizzly. When the salesman or tags says "3 hp", is that truly 3 hp or "develops" 3 hp? Direct drive or belt driven? With hp, amperage on the motorplate is a more accurate determination of power.
Take a look at well built machines like Incra and others. Note thedifferece in machining, tolerances, and beefiness of the trunnions. It should help you decide.
Could not find the model # you posted, if its one of the "new" heavy duty units it would be worth getting, just check it out
