Just moved to Pueblo, CO. Can anyone point me to a local supplier of hardwoods? The wife has started a list of projects for our new digs and we haven’t even closed on the new place yet.
Thanks in advance

I live in Denver. The only one that I know of, in your area, is CSwoods.com. You are quite lucky!
CS Woods - WOW I think I'm going to like living in Pueblo. Now to get my shop out of storage. The house we're buying has an "extra" 3 car garage. Soon to be my new shop. After working in 1 bay of a garage for 6 years, it's going to take me awhile to get used to having space for projects and materials.
Thanks for the information. I knew I could count on Knots.
>like living in Pueblo<I was born there. Had to move back for a few years to take care of my parents until they passed on.Not my kind of place. Has a good Lowes builders supply though.Famous for the green chilies see picBe sure to check out the new Library. It is spectacular and gets a lot of use.Town of Beuhla to the west is an oasis when it gets hot. And it WILL get hot.I second the Collectors Specialty Woods supply. In Colorado Springs check out The Colorado Woodworker wood supply. Small but good. Sponsor's Norm shows.rocGive me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. Abraham Lincoln ( 54° shaves )
I am from CO and my family lives in Pueblo West now. The only source I know of is Woodcraft in CO Spgs. I know it isn't the best for hardwoods, but I'm not sure of anything else.
Collectors Specialty Woods (CSWoods) has locations in Carbondale and Gardner. I've never been to either location, but the online inventory looks fairly extensive.

This is my second attempt to post a reply to you. As I was finishing the 1st. attempt Knots asked me to confirm my e-mail and my reply was gone --- grrr! So this time I will be short - to the point with no worry about grammar. We live in La Junta - about 60 miles from Pueblo. Welcome to SE Colo. CSWoods is great. Have gotten wide mahogany, cherry, butternut, hickory (curly), maple, walnut burl, and lots more that I can't recall. Point is they are big. They have a lot! I have bought small amounts. Prob. 30 - 50 bf. at a time. They are very helpful - e.g. move pallets with forklift so can see board at bottom of pile etc. Only have bought rough sawn. They have large shop but don't know if they would mill small amts. To get there go south on I-25. Turn west at Walsenburg on state road 69. Go thru Gardner. Yard is located on left (south) side of road as you are going. A few miles past Gardner. Can see from road but is perhaps 1/2 mile from road. Don't think you can identify from road and few if any signs so check on directions before you go. Last 1/2 mile or so is dirt/gravel so don't plan trip close to a storm. Makes me feel like a kid in a candy store so bring $. They do (at least did) take checks. They also have a nice website.
Another place you might try is Colo. Woodworkers Supply (think that is name). It is on Fillmore in Colo. Spgs. East of I-25 about 1-2 miles on south side of street. It is "set back" from Fillmore on a sort of small frontage road with 1 row of diagonal parking between the store and Fillmore. (It is incidentally close to a pretty good tool repair shop.) The store is pretty small (not a chain) but it does have a fair amount of wood - from ash to zebrawood. Most if not all is s2s. They too are friendly. Welcome again to the area. I think you will find Pueblo a nice city. Friendly and basic. Ask more if I can help in any way. - Woodhors
Thank you sir. I will be checking out both places once I get settled.
Denver is another option with Austin Hardwoods and Paxtons Lumber.
The place on Fillmore is obscene price wise. CS in Gardner is a fun visit but also very pricey. Rush's (in Pueblo) has some hardwoods. CO lumber on Stone in the Springs is a better bet pricewise. Woodcraft also has some hardwoods but again over priced in my view. (I live in Pueblo West)
The best prices are at CO Lumber in the Springs. They have a pretty good selection. They also have some nice veneered plywood and Baltic Birch plywood at good prices.
Collectors Speciality Woods
Again, thanks to all who replied to my original post. I finally got to CS Woods this past weekend. WOW. An amazing selection of some of the most interesting wood I have ever seen. Eric knows his stock like nothing I've ever seen before. My wife and I spent several hours looking over the stacks before making our selection. No rush, no fuss, no problem.
If you ever get a chance to stop in, it will be well worth your time. You might find a better price, but I doubt you will find better materials.
