Can anyone tell me good sources of hardwoods in the New Orleans area? Also, does anyone know of any sawmill sources in the area, for native woods that I can air dry? I live in St. Tammany Parish, LA.

Woody,
Actually, there is a very good lumber yard off Morrison Rd. exit I-10 in eastern N.O. It is called Riverside Lumber. They carry a good selection of imported hardwoods, and a smaller selection of domestics. The great thing is they let you pick through their stacks for the boards you want.
Off US 90 between Bullard and Michoud is a Paxton Lumber. They DO NOT let you pick the lumber, so I did not shop there much.
Good Luck,
Dan
Excellent! Just what I needed. I have also experienced this with Paxton in Ft Worth and Austin, so I rarely shopped there myself. Riverside sounds like what I am looking for.
Thanks!
