I’m constructing a utility bench on one end of my shop. It will be 12′ X 32″ and includes a drop in hole for my SCMS. I would like to use a replaceable top material like tempered Masonite or maybe MDF. How can I hold the Masonite down nice and tight to the top and still be able to replace it when it gets beat up?
Thanks,

I use double faced carpet tape. The plastic type is better IMO, as it releases easier than the fabric type.
Great suggestion and one I hadn't thought of. Thanks.

If you use 3/4 MDF, you can sheet-metal screw from the bottom. Drill pilot holes if you go that route. The MDF is usually within .004 flat off the shelf. If your table top is not flat, a couple of packs of cheap playing cards work as shims between the MDF an base top.
The double-sided carpet tape idea from Howie sounds good to, especially if you use tempered hard-board. It's not thick enough for screws. Thanks for the idea, Howie..
Have fun...
