I was helping a friend do a house clean out/up today, and I uncovered this saw.
It’s a skew-back rip saw, with a five-screw handle, but here’s the curious part. The handle features a hole for one’s index finger, and both sides of the handle are relieved, one for thumb, the other for index finger.
Comments? Thanks! Ed

Hi Ed,
Does it look like one of those old Disstons? I think they made saws and then put a bunch of other names on them.
Well, not like any of the ones I have. I'll try to get around to taking a photo of the handle and then see if I can still post it to my defunct (but it's still visible...) web site.
I can't beieve nary one denizen of this place has come across such a saw...
Ed,
The hand tool afficianados do seem to be few and far between here these days. Here's a link to a Disston like I was thinking of. I like these handles personally, my favorite rip saw is one of these.

Curious if that's like yours, let me know. Steve
Bingo! (Of course it doesn't look like the example you linked... :-( Serious rust, no finish left on the handle, which is also cracked, but the price was right! Thanks Steve!
Ed, sounds like yours is in "typical" condition. If you want to know more about them, there is a great site for Disston collecters out there. I can't remember what it's called, but I bet a search would bring it out of hiding. Have a good one,Steve
Thank you Steve!
Couple of saw sites:

That saw might have collectable value.
