Why 850,
The price I see is 725 with 89 dollar shipping anywhere?
That was just en estimate. I remember the total being the 800s so just said 850.
Unless power is the issue save a bit longer and get the 1023 cabinet saw! Very nice.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
+1 on the 1023. Not that the G0661 isn't an excellent saw within it's class, but it's simply not in the same class. The 1023 is a 3hp industrial cabinet saw with massive underpinnings and a considerably more power. With the current Microsoft 25% Cashback deal, you can get a g1023SL for $855 to your door on Ebay, closer to $760 if you happen to be fortunate enough to have received a 10% Ebay code. The one caveat is that 3hp motors require 220v to operate.
I've had mine for a long time now and moved it twice (half way across the country and back) and she's still performing great. I'd like to get the new one with the built in riving knife but can't justify getting rid of the 1023 that still runs perfect. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
please explain the 25% cashback deal.
I may be buying the G513x2 bandsaw and saving money may prompt me to do it sooner.
Grizzly only 30 minutes away so I can pick it up.And I have the G1023SLW - nice saw.
I have the 1023slx, and the 513. They did not have the x2 when I got mine. My advice would be to chuck the stock blade and put some suffolk timberwolf blades on it. You won't be dissapointed. Here ya go:Here's how it works (there are no significant strings and the savings are real). The Cashback discount is currently 25%. You need to originate a search though Live.com that results in an Ebay hit that shows the "Live Search Cashback" symbol. Search words "chisels", "coffee", "Wii", "laptop", or "coins" work for me just about every time. It doesn't matter what you search for initially, as long as it results in a hit that has that symbol that links you to Ebay. Then enter Ebay thru the link from your Live.com search. You should see the "Microsoft" Cashback banner at the top of the page. Once you've got that banner, that session and the stated discount is valid for 60 minutes....after an hour you can repeat the process to refresh it. Now you can search Ebay for any item you want, but it must be listed as a "Buy It Now" item, and they must accept PayPal as payment, and you must pay using PP. You'll see the Cashback banner at every step of the checkout process right up to confirming the purchase, so you'll know what your saving. Note that the discount is subject to change without notice. 30% is as high as I've seen it. You're allowed up to 12 cashback transactions per Ebay account...each transaction has a cap of $200. You might even check your emails for a 10% Ebay coupon that can be stacked!Once you make the Buy It Now purchase, you'll receive an email from the MS Cashback folks stating that you've earned Cashback. It'll provide a link to set up a "Live ID" account with Microsoft. Your cashback will be available after 60 days, at which time you'll get another email with a link where you can request your payment. It typically goes straight to your PayPal account but I've read where others requested a check.

Are you a coin collector?
Not really, though I did buy some silver when the discount was 30%....not a bad investment at this price in this economy!
For a few $$ more you can get a cabinet saw as mentioned. It would be wise to be patient and do just that as it will most likely save you an up-grade in the future if you stay at this game. There is a world of difference in the way they are made.. power in this case.. etc. etc. But... there is not a worlf of difference in the price and the patience would render better dividends for the long haul, IMO.
Good luck...
Sarge..
I would love to buy a cabinet saw but I do not have the room or the means of putting one in my shop. My shop is a room about 10x10 with small versions of machinery. I cant guarantee when I move Ill have a large room for myself.Angel
I understand Don but... a cabinet saw with 30" rails doesn't really take up more foot-print than a contractor saw. You can set the fence more to the left to shorten the extra 15" or so that 30" rails would stick out on the right side beyond what a contractor saw would take up. If space is a factor.. 50" rails are definitely out of the picture.
Not trying to influence you one way or the other as you know your situation well beyond what I could imagine.... just giving you some thoughts for you to ponder in making your decision.
Good luck with whatever you do decide...

Don, the footprint of the G0661 and the G1023SL are about the same, and each actually takes up less room than a traditional contractor saw with an outboard motor.
