Although it is not the same I have the Grizzley 37" Two head wide belt sander. It gives me no reason to complain at all. Bob
Thanks for the info, Bob. I have quite a few Grizzly machines and am well satisfied with all but an 18" bandsaw. I think most of their machines are good values but every once in a while they come up with a real dog. I'd like to get some assurance that the sander doesn't fall into that category before I buy it.
I have the 17" BS and think is is really good. What did find wrong with the 18". Just Curious.
A lot of little things that shouldn't be wrong on a machine costing what that one did. The blade guard wouldn't fit after bearing blade guides were installed. Had to remove metal from the guard to get it to fit. The threads on the shaft that tensions the blade stripped. Had to make a new shaft - fortunately I have a reasonably well equipped metal working shop so I could turn and thread the shaft. Both shafts that provide lateral adjustments also stripped and had to be replaced. The adjustment for the lower guides is virtually inaccissable. The dust collection port is a joke. I frequently vacuum it out when doing any quantity of resawing. It won't track blades narrower than 1". Fortunately I use it mainly to resaw and use wide blades so that isn't a significant problem. It is rated to use 1 1/4" blades but won't tension a 1 1/4" blade. Their tech support on all of my other Grizz machines has been great but on this one it was pathetic. Other than those problems it is a good machine. By the way, Grizzly discontinued it after a couple of years. Guess I wasn't the only one with those problems.
