I have been looking everywhere for dimensions for The Greene and Green Thorsen Dining Arm chair. IN all the excellent books such as Robert W. Lang’s ” Shop Drawings for Greene and Greene Furniture” I could not find any dimensions, such as height, depth, widths and arm rest specs. I did find an image of the original drawings online, but the resolution was such that I could not read them.
Anyone have suggestions or information?

I've made my own interpatation of the chair. I don't have any diamensions from the original, I went from a picture in a book. Let me know if htese pics help any and if you want some measurements off them. If the pics don't appear they are on my web site along with other G & G stuff, http://www.starbuckfurniture.net i thought Robert Langs book had this chair in it?
The chairs are mahogany and ebony with sterling silver in the little pieces in the back. the inlay is pearwood, valley oak, mother of pearl and abalone. The arm chair proportions are a little different because the client had a bad leg/hip and needed an unusual seat height. The side chairs are very comfortable

Your photos are great. The important thing about plans we 'interpret' is that the proportions and essence of the piece are there.
I am looking for the Thorsen Arm chair measurements. It appears to be a bit larger than the side chairs.
Here are the drawings that barely show the chair, along with a colored wash of the arm. very difficult to see the details on the faded drawings.

This is a photograph of the dining room showing the two arm chairs, and the table.http://dpg.lib.berkeley.edu/webdb/ggva/search?project=&siteid=259&pageno=6&id=NYDA.1987.003.00142
I have Peart's book, it is great, but doesn't have THE chair. I need the dimensions of the back, seat (front & back), legs and arm placement.

Mind-blowingly well done!
You can order high resolution images of the original drawings from the Greene & Greene Virtual Archives. As I recall it costs about $35 or so.
These chairs aren't for the faint of heart. Even with good drawings there will be a lot of head-scratching and prototyping. There's no such thing as "Greene & Greene Made Easy"

Thanks Bob,
I will try to chase it down at UC Berkeley. My daughter is an interior design student there, and should have access to the libary and archives. Thanks again for the advice about head scratching. I don't expect it to be a breeze, but I enjoy a challenge. Am enjoying your book "Shop Drawings for Greene & Greene Furniture".
