This glue and other makes has its uses, but I hate the clean up which has to be timely if a mess is to be avoided. However, for some time and for other uses I have bought something called solvent cleaner 1950.
It works wonders on Gorilla but are there any chemists out there who know what it is? I know it is hazardous, but in what way.
Thanks in anticipation, Mufti.

Don't know what it is, but acetone will easily and completely clean up Gorilla and other polyurethane glues if you do it before the glue sets up. The wood is left absolutely clean and undisturbed, without stain, raised grain or evidence of any residue at all.

I've noticed that most "cleaner" solutions will identify contents to some extent. Most are combinations of compatible chemicals including acetone, xylol, alcohol, etc. so that they will clean a variety of substances. I keep a few basic, relatively non-lethal chemicals available like acetone, mineral spirits and alchohol for uses like this simple because I can get a gallon for the price of a few ounces of "cleaner". Test small areas, wear appropriate gloves, and work outdoors while you find out the effects. If you don't know exactly what it is you can create some truly toxic gases with the wrong substance (so a good chemical respirator is also a good thing to have).
My favorite is acetone for cleaning gum residue from glass. Fingernail polish is basically acetone, so it also works for enamel cleanup.
There are always caveats, proper storage, kid-proof and don't mix or play if you have no idea what the result will be.
I was afraid of that. The only solvent I allow to touch my hands is Ethanol 99.7-100% which has great restorative properties when used with care. I also use it in shellac.

And when you're bored or thirsty -- you can sip it! How many solvents can make that claim?
Lacquer thinner. nail polish remover, Butyl acetate, Xylol
The vendor (or manufacturer) will be able to provide you with a MSDS entailing the dangers of the product as well as what's in it.

Ya, that foamy push-out stuff is a mess, isn't it? And wow, is it sticky. Ever get that stuff on your hands? They're soot for a week!
Yeah messy stuff. I always feel bad for the poor guy on the bottle. He's a mess!

Contact the manufacturer. They are required by law to provide you with a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). The MSDS will give you details about all the hazards associated with their product. It will also tell you about what safety precautions are required when using it.
Thank you. This is the first stuff I have come across just carrying a number.
