I attended the 2008 Woodworking Show in Houston on Friday, and received some good news from a Lie-Nielsen rep–they hope to introduce a Stanley 720 chisel replica line next year. He couldn’t give me a specific time, but it is definitely in the works.
I especially enjoyed the Lee Valley, Lie-Nielsen and Center for Essential Education School of Woodworking booths. The LV booth was well staffed and set up nicely for interactive participation. Every handplane they make was sharp, tuned and ready to try. I enjoyed the new small plow plane–sweet tool. I did purchase two LV spokeshaves. The LN booth was also well staffed and tools ready to go. The CFEE booth featured nice demos in three different locations and did a good job of promoting their classes and school.
I missed seeing major tool manufacturers like Steel City, Saw Stop and Delta, although all were represented by vendors who carry their products. Just would be nice if the companies showed up to represent. That’s it–just wanted to share the good news of the forthcoming LN chisels. Tom

I've been to both Lee Valley and Lie Nielson demos (at different venues) and loved them, and bought goodies while at them. I used to think I'd love it if there were permanent show/demos in my area, open til, say, midnight. But then I and people like me would be pawning our kids on a regular basis. I can make an argument (to myself anyway) for just about every plane, etc., these companies make.
