Great deal? http://www.internationaltool.com/woodworking/tools/boswwck2.html
Maybe I’m the last one not to have these two reccomended essentials but this seems like a great deal on two items on my wish list. These are not the “best” model but I need to replace my 30 year old Craftsman (good saw but worn out) and my cheap Ryobe that quit after a few months.
Jump or spend more for the “best” models?

I'd go for it. It sounds like a great deal at less than 1/3 the price of a "best model".
I use a saber saw occasionally, and bought a Grizzly knock-off of the Bosch a few years ago. Yesterday I was doing a number of large table bases (40-50" diameter from 3/4" ply). I had my Grizz and it started to get hot in the gearbox after the first one. Then I picked up my client's Bosch and used it for the remaining 7 bases and it worked flawlessly.
