The Rockler e-ad this morning is peddling a Wilton 12 1/2″ planer with stand for $99. (The ad says “Save $170”).
Does anyone have any experience with the Wilton machine? The price seems awfully low. Is it worth carrying home or not? I love a good deal, but some ads are more fantasy than fact.
By the way, this appears beside the ad Forestgirl mentioned here on Knots for the $99 Delta Versa-Feeder.

I'm lolling around this morning, did a quick search. Only thing I could find was a mention at BT3Central that it seems like a clone of the Jet 12" planer, which apparently doesn't get "great reviews." Looks like Wilton is part of WMH Tools? which is Jet parent company.
A 12" planer is pretty outdated anyway, standard nowadays for light shop use is 12.5" or, with a little more $$, 13"
Thanks, FG. I had been eyeing the 735 2-speed, but it seems that the price of that thing has really gone up around here since it got such good reviews from FWW! You've confirmed my fears.
The timing of the price increase may be more related to skyrocketing price of materials (steel) than the review, LOL. Perhaps once the back inventory is worked through, we'll see more sales, assuming the price of steel has gone down some with this economic downturn.
Ah! Time to quit lolling around and start a fire in the pellet stove. Today's the day I tackle getting the shop back in order. January 1st, 2009.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
God bless you, Jamie! You bring joy to Knotheads like me!
