I searched but didn’t find any threads, so forgive me if I am repeating a thread. I have a client who wants me to do a desk covered in leather. The desk will be ac seven layer plywood with the leather attached only to the top surface. He wants the look of the plywood edge with the shoe leather on top. My question is whether anyone has recomendations about type of glue and method for this. The leather is in largeish sheets that lay almost but not quite flat. I had been thinking about using hide glue.

I immediately thought of hide glue also. You might have to give the leather a couple of coats because it would soak in. It seems that it would soften up the leather and help it lie flat when you press it onto the plywood. Use a J-roller to bond the leather and plywood well.
Hide glue is the time honored substance used to bond wood and leather.
Hide glue is the traditional choice. I've recently done 2 of these using Titebond and they turned out fine as well.

David,
I've used titebond too. And a clothes iron set on warm will set the glue almost immediately, if you are in a hurry, or the leather wants to creep.

Are you talking about titebond II or titebond liquid hide glue? Thanks again for the help.
quiet,
Plain old Franklin's titebond (yellow) wood glue. Not titebond II, not liquid hide glue.

Ray
