I don’t know if this will link you directly to Ebay. I was watching this item, the bidding didn’t reach the reserve so it has been relisted. Very unusual piano, the carving is extraordinary.

Hammer,
Wow! That is something else. Are you thinking of buying it?

It doesn't go with my interior design scheme, jonnieboy. I was thinking more along these lines....http://cgi.ebay.com/John-Broadwood-Art-Case-Grand-Piano-Magnificent_W0QQitemZ150376388692QQcmdZViewItemQQptZArt_Paintings?hash=item2303219854Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Uhhh, yeah. Do I get a discount if I take both?
It's amazing, the beautiful things in this world.

Hammer,
Let me say it again. That is something else.
I know how the piano repairman felt, it's a I-Can't-Stop-Looking-At-It.

Gorgeous and fun. Randy needs to learn how to write an ad though. Sheesh..... Maybe I'm just getting old.....
He does love a paragraph.

FG,
"Gorgeous and fun" ..................!?
Is that a subtle euphemism for "the ugliest darn thang I iver saw"! It's almost worth buying so one could take an axe to it. I wonder what it sounds like (groaning demons)?
Lataxe, full of horror at that giant scuttly thing being let out in public.
You have to envision it in the right house, Mr. L. You're familiar with The Addams Family, a Hollywood creation based on Charles Addams' cartoons in the New Yorker magazine? --

Their house would be a perfect retirement home for the Giraffe Piano:View Image
If you've never had the pleasure, click here for a YouTube video Christmas with the Addams Family.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Girl,
I believe Thing would play that edifice in the correct way. There would be divvil-chords and then the beast would walk about snapping up children and kittens, as Thing tolled out a dire dirge.
No, best burn it now before it animates.
Lataxe, who was once frightened by a large organ (not that kind of organ); playing Bach in a threatening manner, it was.
Forest!
SO we are NOT that unlike...
I just loved the old Addams Family show. And The Munsters..
Thanks for posting.. Off to view the videos!

Munsters...
Hammer,
Great post. Love the giraffe piano. Nothing like late Victorian extravagant and opulent carving.
Also loved the writeup that the seller (Randy) posted on the Ebay ad. That is the type of information that brings old pieces of furniture to life.
You made my day. I don't usually check EBay, but if they have stuff like this, I will start perusing it. Of course, I will have to get a larger house. :-)
Have fun.

Measure your output in smiles per board foot.
Mel, did you see my second Ebay link to jonnieboy, the John Broadwood piano with the Wright and Mansfield marquetry? Amazing!Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Hammer,
I did see your message to johnnieboy and the attached website. "Beauty" is in the eyes of the beholder. I love the giraffe piano. I can admire the workmanship of thee magnificent inlaid piano in the second post, but I like the carved piano much better. Luckily my house if full. If I make another piece or buy another piece for the house, something must go. So my wife and I are not buying many extra large pianos this year. I went to the arts and crafts festival at Waterford Virginia, a few weeks ago. There was a VERY tall, Chippendale desk for about $30,000 -- highly and deeply carved, and beautifully designed. It would go well with the piano --- in a LARGE room.Have fun.

Mel.. If I had 30 grand I'd have a party for the Knots folks!
Hammer,
The first one belongs in my house. That second one belongs in a museum.

They are both spectacular examples of woodworking art. There are still some fabulous pianos being made today. Check out some of Pollaro's work. Not quite as "old world" in decorations but still wonderful.http://www.pollaro.com/pianos.phpBeat it to fit / Paint it to match
Hammer,
Pianos sure do provide a large woodworking 'canvas,' lots of expanse and space.

This wonderful piano conversion was posted last year(?) or the year before. (anyone remember who, where?)

It's in the June 2009 Gallery, by Catmandu:

Thanks, JB, I found it too, before I checked here to see your response. I'll give him credit by his "real" name -- Terry Schneider. Totally cool, but only for someone with a fair amount of square footage, eh?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
FG,
That thing will hold some tools, now!
