I AM TRYING TO DECIDE WHICH EDGE SANDER TO PURCHASE. I HAVE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE GENERAL INT. MODEL 15-005M1 OR THE POWERMATIC MODEL 13. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INPUT ON THESE SANDERS. THANKS, DAN

DANNYBOY ,
If you haven't yet , check out the Croucher and also the Ritters .

Progress makes a nice edge sander as does Vega and you can add the oscillation feature later. Also heat Jet has one that oscillates as well. Grizzly as well. Have to admit the quality of Grizzly is improving.
I have the General International. Have had it for about two years. No complaints. Has performed all tasks without any issues. It took about an hour to set up and get square. Has not required any attention since.
I did not feel the need to spend the extra $$ for the osscillating model. I guess that really depends on how you use the sander.
ggod luck.

TAHNKS FOR YOUR REPLY CHASEFORD. THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR. LEAVING FOR SPRINGFIELD,MO. TOMMOROW TO PICK UP A GENERAL INT'L. 15-005M1. THANKS AGAIN, DAN
Would be interested to hear about your experience with the General. Sounds like it is in my price range and not too big for my shop. One of the complaints about the Jet model was that the table could not be lowered enough to use the full 6" of the belt. Does the General table move low enough to use the full width of the belt? Do you have any complaints?
HI JIM, ON THE GENERAL YOU ONLY HAVE 5 1/2" IN THE VERTICAL POSITION, FULL BELT WIDTH IN THE HORIZONTAL POSITION. THE GENERAL AND POWERMATIC MODEL 13 ARE EXACTLY ALIKE EXCEPT FOR THE COLOR. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE GENERAL SO FAR. I BOUGHT MINE FROM BALLEW SAW & TOOL IN SPRINGFIED, MO. FOR $649, GOOD PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH. DAN
Thanks for your feedback on the GI edge sander. Sounds like the one for me. My apologies for not thanking you sooner for your reply....have been out of pocket for several weeks.
Jet has a new edge sander that features an oscillating belt (instead of the table) for around $900.
always powermatic got ashop full and would not go any where else
