Hello gang,
I can’t find my FWW issue that has the article that explains all the details for building a cinder block supported stacking/stickering support structure for a new pile of freshly sawn lumber . It may have been written by Garrett Hack, but I’m not certain. Any help finding it will be appreciated.

What do you want to know? There are several important factors when stacking and stickering freshly sawn lumber. The cinder block base is a means of getting the stack up off of the ground, which is critical. It's also pretty easy to create a level base with such a structure, by using a large level or snap line to insure that the base is all in the same plane. It's ok if it pitches to one side for drainage, as long as the base is in the same plane with no dips, which would telegraph throughout the stack, causing warped lumber when dry.

My brother is about to have a contractor start clearing some nice timber for a new homesite and I was hoping to send him the article with all the relevant details . I think they mentioned plastic, on the ground, covered in stone, cinderblocks, and PT wood dimensions. Mike
I let my subscription slide, so I can't help with the article. Hopefully someone will respond for you.

Check April 2009, page 72. Could that be the article?

Thanks Hilmar,
the one article that I'm remembering is from a few years ago. Thanks,
Mike
Michael,
I think what you're looking for wasn't an article in a past issue, but a Q&A. It was in FWW #193, on page 88. Let me know if you don't have that issue.
