WOW, I just looked and my TS is now the same price as it was in 02 when I bought it with shipping.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
I was looking at some Grizzly equipments, do you remember how much they raise in general ?
Q
I didn't look at the increases that closely, but someone on Knots reported that the hybrid saw he was looking at had jumped 20 percent. I don't know if that has been the percentage on all equipment, though. Given the cost of shipping, my impression is that, at least on the less expensive Grizzly machines, the free shipping may reduce the net cost of some to a lower figure than the price of the same machine a couple of months ago, when had to add the shipping cost to the machine's price. I think the best thing to do is look at the machine you want, get a price from last year's catalog, and see if the free shipping makes it a good deal for you.My guess is that Grizzly is offering this free shipping deal because the market can't support the new prices right now, but when (if?) the economy rebounds, the new prices will be in place once people can spend again.Norman
I love it! I couldn't decide which 15" planer to get... but the free shipping decided for me :0) It comes tomorrow and the mobile base comes on Wednesday!

Griz rocks!
You da man! Doin your part to save the economy! Lucky dog!Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Yep, doing my part to keep Griz in business. Now I just need to save up to get the 3HP Cyclone... I just hope the free shipping lasts a year or so :0)
Congrats! Nice hunk of iron there, Tbagn!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

Greetings Morgan.
Hope every is fine down AZ. Here still waiting for the snow to melt. Three more months and it should be gone.
Best,

Serge, things are jus fine down here. Been busy in my day job of Landscaping, we have just completed a spectacular project, and working on others. After that, work looks pretty light, so I may just retire for a few years and do other things. Our economy is off the charts in dark territory, huge cutbacks in the State Goverment, slashing the universitys etc. I expect we will be in a down turn here for years to come, I am just glad my house is paid for, my cars are paid for, and my wife has a solid job. We are not dragging anchor on our way to the lee shore, so it will be fine, just different but that is life.

Thanks Morgan, I couldn't find any detailed reviews so I was just going on faith and my own previous experience with another Griz machine.
Now, I just need to swing by Lowes and pick up a plug and get the machine set up. I just hope I can avoid a Darwin Award when I go to get this thing on the mobile base. I'm sure a friend, wife and the lifting bars will spare me an award. If not, I guess I can always borrow my dad's engine hoist again.
I'm currently helping a friend make some end-grain cutting boards and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it will perform with end-grain. I made six or seven cutting boards for Xmas gifts and they took forever to flatten on my Performax 16/32...
I ran some of the off-cuts over my 10" SC jointer, also a Griz, and had no problems... so I figured it was time to upgrade my 12" planer :0) Fortunately, SHMBO was totally cool with it!
Cheers!
Manufacturers should actually be offering more deals in months to come. The price of steel has plummeted. For example, I handle salvage of super large cranes and the prices these pieces are selling for is the lowest I've seen in a long time. They may not pass the savings along in standard selling price reductions but rebates, free shipping and clearance pricing should be on the up tick.
Very good news indeed. Should at least give the manufacturers some breathing room.Norman
