I understand that Juniper is a good turning wood. I hope so, cuz I harvested a 50+ Y/O Juniper and saved the log. I am not a turner, nor do I need this piece of wood. I saved it to give to someone who may want it. I hate to see wood wasted. so, if you’re w/i driving distance of zip 25427, it’s here waiting on ya. Thanks for your attention…… Butch

Hi ButchE,
Is this the same type that most call "aromatic red cedar"? Has the little pale blue waxy berries on it to make candles, and ( I think ) gin? How big is this log, will it fit in the bed of a pick-up? Thanks, Bill D.
yes it is..it smells just like cedar. as for the berries, I don't ever recall seeing the berries... it came from work and I never really looked close before, but I don't recall seeing berries. yes this log fit easily in the bed of my Ranger, but it's got a bend of about 70* in it, that's why I said it wasn't straight,if it were straight, it'd be 5 1/2-6' long. I can send a pic if you'd like.

I have used it for various purposes myself. I got a piece of my beach (where it came from no idea) but on took a small root of it. I regret not taking the entire thing.
I made a bed-frame with a headboard done with two fir poles and a ladder of juniper and it looks quite nice. The white sap wood contrasts nicely with the reddish-brown heartwood.
I got some more from a windfall, enough to make 6 or 8 vases from. It does turn well but tears out a little even with a thick scraper tool.
Save the shaving too, as they make great little gift pouches for sweater chests.
