Where I live in southern Colorado we have two kinds of fir, douglas and concolor.
Does douglas fir always have the pink/orange heartwood and concolor fir always have white heartwood?
My reason for wanting to know is that douglas fir is better firewood and I want to know if I’m choosing correctly.
Thanks!

It seems a pity to burn douglas fir, but even the best wood gets cut down below useful sizes. But you might not want to burn large amounts of it, its a very sappy wood and will eventually coat your flue and put you at risk of chimney fires. The same applies to most softwood/conifers.
