Hi
I made a dining table in solid cherry and finished the top with several coats of Rustins Danish Oil and Bison Wax. The top was glued up with glue joints and yellow glue. What I’d like to know, should I put anything on the bottom of the top or should I leave it bare ? I live in a temperate climate with mediterranean like weather.
Thanks
Dawid

Dawid,
Concerning your table; if it were mine, I would finish the bottom with a couple of coats of your oil. When I finish tables I always do both sides. Of course the bottom doesn't get the same full finish, but it is in fact sealed.
Good luck,
Peter
The above advice should be heeded. Always finish both sides of the tabletop to prevent it from warping or bowing. If moisture can penetrate one side, but not the other, you're in trouble.
Also noted above, you don't need to spend the time to make the finish top notch since no one will ever see it, just apply a few quick coats to seal the surface.
