I am making a cabinet out of African mahogany that needs to match some existing genuine mahogany pieces. I need to tone down the “red” in the African mahogany. The genuine mahogany pieces I have are more brown than red. Does anyone have some suggestions as to stains, dyes or pigments that could be used and when and how it should be applied. Thanks for your help.

You can tone down the red, by putting some green dye on the mahogany.

Larry,
Save this color wheel for future reference. Anytime you want to tone down a certain color just add some of the color that is opposite on the wheel, i.e. green cancels red.

Isn't the grain on African mahogany different than Cuban, S.A. mahogany??
