just noticed a can of shellac sitting on shelf . dissolved thru can what is best solvent to use to clean up/ thanks

I hate when that happens.
Lay a rag on top of the spilled shellac, and wet it well with denatured alcohol. Cover this with a piece of plastic or newspaper to slow the evaporation of the alcohol. In about 5 minutes check it and see if it's soft enough to scrape off. If not, just add some more alcohol to the rag and cover it again.
You may have to wait a few minutes more but it will dissolve.
Shellac will always dissolve in it's own solvent which is alcohol.
