I live in the Philadelphia area and am looking for a good condition used 8 inch jointer. I continue to look on Ebay and Craig’s List but am not finding anything. Ideally I would like a older version of the Delta DJ20 but am open to others that would be dependable, durable and consistent. Does anyone know of any other sources for used woodworking equipment? In the near future I would love to find a used powermatic 66 single phase with either 3 or 5 horsepower motor.

Here is a good place to watch
http://www.woodweb.com/cgi-bin/exchanges/machinery.cgi
also, over on the far right side of the page, is a link to an online auction site. It would be worth your time to watch those. You can easily buy a replacement motor for a jointer, or even a VFD to run 3 ph on single.
If you don't mind picking from others misfortune...IRS autions (industrial recovery services). Lots of closures, out of business liquidations.

thanks-I took a look-a lot of stuff. Another good resource-didn't find what I'm looking for but looks like a good source.
Check out Ex Factory.com
Just a reminder that anything in the 3 to 5 hp range will be either 220V or 3 phase stuff. Make sure you have enough amps to run these bigger motors.

Do a search for Bill Kerfoot and CS Machinery on google. I may have his email. He is located in Oxford, and has lots of machines.
Try [email protected] and ask for a list.
thanks-I looked at another item somewhere and his name was attached to it. I sent him an email letting him know what I'm looking for.
Go to http://www.govtliquidation.com. They often have large jointers for sale.
I see the DJ20 jointers for sale quite often. The link below is for one in Hartford, CT. Check the Sawmill Creek classifieds, they seen to be very active.

Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans .
thanks-looks like Knots...
froemallet,
What would you pay for one? I've seen people pay too much for used equipment because they've waited too long and really getexcited once they find one..
That's the reason I bought my Grizzly.. brand new so I could use it right away. It cost about what I would have paid for a used Delta, but hasn't needed a repair in 40,000 bd.ft. of hardwood..
It's really simple.. you go to http://www.grizzly.com and a catalog pops up.. order it right on line and in a few days it's at your house..
I've heard that production at Grizzley is inconsistent-you might get a good product or you might get a lot of problems. I've heard that from a number of people.
froemallet,
You will hear differant stories from a variety of people here.. just ask about shellac <grin>
However some of those stories could be because of a persons bias or interest.. If you spent twice as much for something in order to feel like you aren't cheated you need whatever you bought to be twice as good.. Someone else may sell another brand.
I do know the magazine tests all tend to rate the Grizzly as a top value or best buy kinda deal..
I've given you my positive experiance and others have on the many, many, many, times this same question has come up.. there is one or two who are vocal about problem issues but they are so opposite from the ordinary experiance most post on the subject that you wonder where they are coming from.. I question if they have a motivation that is less than pure.
I don't sell or benefit in any way from my promotion of Grizzly (or shellac, or buying wood from sawmills rather than lumberyards) I do so because so many have helped me that I feel a need to pay back.
Bottom line, if you question those here who own Grizzly products your opinion will change..
OK, I'll take a look. Thanks.
