1200 australian bucks?
KAPEX KS 120
if you look at the link and do a google search you can find video.
My existing mitre is starting to get pretty bad and I might be in the market for a new one next year.
depends on how much it will cost to rebuildt my existing saw. 12" dewalt from 10 years ago.
I like the idea of a 10". less deflection I would think?
As someelse mentioned the 1,300 us will be for the Kapex. It will be avail 7/1 in the US. They are taking preorders now. I had not seen that one in the link before. Looks like the predecessor to the kapex. Go to youtube and type in kapex and watch the video.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Popular Science named the Kapex as one of the new Tools of 2008 and said it was going to be $1500.
Here ya go. (BTW the bore is not a standard blade. I"m told it's 40mm)

vendor does not matter, price is set

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

It won't accept a standard blade? What a shocker! (sarcasm off)

Yep, I kinda figured that since everything is metric. On the festool site I posted the question and got the response that all the major blade vendors will sell their best blades with the appropriate bore, so it's a moot point. " all the major blade vendors"?<!----><!----><!---->
Does that include forest? Because I don't run any other types of blades anymore. Except for the ones that come stock on festool stuff.<!----><!---->
the T 55 I have has the original blade and it still cuts like a champ. festools blades seem top notch to me?<!----><!---->
if the dust collection is better than most I would be interested. the hand held router and chop saw are the dustiest bastards in the shop.<!----><!---->

I can attest to the dust collecting abilities of the festool router. Like you, I found my other ones were really messy. And that is why I am also REALLY interested in the kapoc (sp?).BTW, that new add on to the Leigh jig the VRS (http://www.leighjigs.com/vrs.php) works very well indeed. What the festool and that thingie, I am enjoying the must dustless routing ever.Cheers,Peter

do you like your Leigh?
Love it. In spades. Now I will prepare myself for the onslaught of Leigh haters. And the hand cut set. ;-)Cheers,Peter

Yep, forrest will do it.Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Does anyone know if it is as good as other Festools regarding dust control? I sure have been impressed with the rotex sander and the router in that respect.
Also any idea how wide a board it can cut? It is a slider but I can find no info on that.
Thanks,
Peter

If you watch the videos, you can see that some dust gets thrown, but it appears to be a lot less than with an ordinary miter saw.

The Kapex?
They're an excellent unit, sleepydad.
Giving makita a run for their money.
Price is right.
I'm just confused on the operation of the saw - it runs out like a Radial Arm Saw (pull towards you,) but the manufacturer's instructions are to use it in the same manner as a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw. (push it.)
Haven't figured that one out yet.
Cheers,
eddie
