I’ve heard that this is an excellent, though expensive, sander. Dual mode, good dust collection. Has anyone any experience with this tool and are there dealers where you can see one hands-on? I live in Southeast Michigan.

I have the Rotex sander and it works great, rapid stock removal and good DC with the festool vac.

Thanks for the report. Where did you buy it?Jerry
Festool Direct. They have a 30 day return, service & support are excellent. Everything ships from either thier east or west coast warehouses. If you don't like it you can retrun it, no questions asked. I had a problem with an item damaged in shipping, and I feel they bent over backwards to make sure the problem was resolved & I was satisfied. The quality of tools far exceeds anything you will find at a big box store. You can also check out the yahoo groups for festool.

Jerry, Festool's website lists distributors world wide. Try to find one near you since the prices do not vary from reseller to reseller like other products. The only difference between the website and the reseller is that the reseller does get paid by Festool for selling to you. The price is still the same but you get to support your local economy that way.
By the way, shipping is free on all tool sales but not on accessories.
The 150 sander is great but get the Rotex if you can since it will save you buying two sanders.
Sincerely;
The Tool Guy
Jerry -
I have the 150 - 3 (3 mm oscillation, there's also a 150 - 5). It is so nice it almost makes sanding fun. Really.
Buy their hose, hook it up to a vac and it is completely dustless. It starts smoothly, no gouging.
Dunno about the Rotex, but I don't need anything more aggressive than this.

Thanks to all of you for the great response. Knots people are great.I guess I'll pop for one even though "green" is not my color.Jerry
Jerry,
the only green on the RO150 is the power swich and the lever to change between rotary & RO, so you shouldn't be too disapointed. It's mostly black.
If you can. try to find a local dealer on the web page like Tool Guy recommended. Festool does support their dealers well. I ordered direct since I don't get near the dealers in my area too often - 60+ miles through heavy traffice in either direction. I do purchase through them when I can.
Ditto on the Rotex. At first, I couldn't believe I was stupid enough to be dropping that much $ on a sander and a vac. Now I wish I'd done it a long time ago. The finished product difference between that and an off the shelf, ie Dewalt, is substantial. I'm more of a remodeler than woodworker anymore, so the dual mode to me is a great advantage. I've used that thing on stuff I never dreamed of. Made a shower shelf for a builder who was building an entire bath out of travertine - sanded the edges round with the rotex. Cool cool cool. Festo GOOD.

Wow! That makes me feel good. I ordered one yesterday and can't wait to get it.
Thanks, Jerry
