hi Matt
I noticed that you reviewed the Festool Domino Mortise app and spoke highly of the product – Have been looking at buying the Leigh Frame Mortise & Tenon Jig for a while and was wondering if you have reviewed this product. Do you know how it compares to the Festool Domino. The main difference i can see is the tenon can be made a lot larger with the Leigh, meaning i can use it to build a dinner room table.
Your thoughts please – Regards Boyd

Hi Boyds,
Those two tools are apples and oranges. The Domino is an all-in-one tool that cuts mortises, whereas the Leigh Jig, and others like it, support a board while you cut the mortise with a router.
These so-called "Joint-Making Machines" (our review includes the Leigh) have been around for awhile and many woodworkers actually make their own shopmade versions.
In my opinion, the difference between the two is speed and versatility. The Domino is going to be faster to set up and use, but the joint-making machines are going to be more versatile.
Another tool that tackles the same job is a hollow-chisel mortiser.
