I’m building a porch swing with white oak. I am thinking of sealing the end grain with 2 part epoxy. I need to know what would be a good exterior finish for it. This is my first outdoor project and it will be exposed to the elements all summer.

How shaded is it on the porch? Does it get more than a couple of hours of direct sun in morning or evening?
The only thing I have found effective for yard furniture is an opaque stain or a solid color stain, it will need redoing every 5-7 years but it does not peel like paint or spar varnish. I have several chairs I made 15 years ago out of cypress and stained them with a solid stain and have done it once since then. Todate no peeling or rot. I also have a cypress table which I stained with and opaque stain and it has stood up a well with no repainting as yet.
I refinished a granddaughter's play set three years ago. The factory finish didn't last a year. My daughter's deck was "professionally" stained with an opaque stain the same year and is failing already. The swingset is going strong. I used One-Time that is a 100% solids, UV-cured, non-film-forming finish. I've been happy with it and my son-in-law wants to strip the deck and apply it there now.
Unfortunately, it only seems to come in gallons that will do quite a few porch swings.
