Does anyone have experience with the harbor frieght 9″quick release vise? I remember it being compared to a Rocler awhile back but do not know anything else. Thanks.

nope
To answer your question directly, no, I've had no experience with the HF vise. But, I'd say HF is known for economical prices, not quality. Their source may, in fact, be the same as Rockler's "house brand". I'd buy a Jorgensen instead.
Good for balast. Beyond that I would look else where.
Tools from Harbor Freight are good for one thing. Blast in the keel of a sail boat. I suppose if you have a bass boat you could tie a rope to the vise and use it for an anchor.
That stuff looks like sumpin but that is about it.
VISE
It is a great vise purchased one for my school and when i get a chance to go to the Harbor Freight store in Bricktown N.J. will purchase two more.
I would love to be wrong about HF
It would be great to have another quality tool store to visit and buy from. Please post your experience and photos if you get a vice.
HF Vise
I just installed one on a workbench, but have not really cranked down on it yet. I can say the quick-release is a little funky, as in you have to jiggle the handle around to get the mechanism to engage or disengage. I don't expect much from HF and when I buy there I have low expectations. Price is important to me. I'm not disappointed...I got what I paid for.
Harbor vise
I,ve had mine for over 11 years beat the hell out of it it works just fine.
Bought a vice
Came into some extra cash so I bought a Jogenson. It's a great vise. I still don't have the bench done (been one of those years) , but the top is functioning on a set of saw horses. The vise works great, Though I haven't really worked it, it hasn't given me any grief either. Thanks to all for your advice and help.
Two thumbs up on getting a good bench going for your self
Yah I know about "been one of those years", had one last year.
Again enjoy your vise and bench ! Post pics if it works out even if not finished.
