Hi: I’ve missed wiping off some of the grain filler on a mahogany table I’m finishing. The stuff is very hard where it has been sitting but the rest of the surface is good and I don’t want to ruin the good parts. What is the best way to get rid of the excess with out a total sanding off of the filler?
Thanks, KDM

I think I would either sand it or use a card scraper judiciously. Have you seen this site on fillers?

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
If you use a flat, hard, sanding block, it shouldn't be too hard to sand off the surplus without touching the wood.
