Anyone know of a retailer in the States that carries Exaktor?
Leaning towards Exaktor over the Excalibur because of the SS rails. Any other opinions would be welcomed. Thanks.

You can find things by searching on google.com
The guy who sells the exactor originally invented the excalibur. Supposedly someone got controlling interest of the company and he started exactor. Supposed to be a few more bearings in the exactor than the excalibur. Either one will work.
Thanks for the info, but I have been to the web site, and I have phoned. No answer, so I left a message. Nothing on the site to indicate if they have any retail outlets, so I thought I'd ask here while waiting for a return call. Thanks.

I think you'll get a call back from the number you used. I have a couple of Exaktor things and they have been good about getting back to me. When I bought the overarm guard, I paid in US$ to a US account, as I recall -- it may have been in Buffalo. And, yes, it is the guy who actually started out as Excalibur. I met him at a trade show. Nice guy. Got into some kind of pissing contest with the other people and lost.
I'm interested in your research into a sliding table, Don. What kind of saw do you have (mine is a PM 66)? How much is involved in fitting it to the table? The Excalibur costs around $500+.
Jim,
Not really a whole lot of research. The only two I found for my saw, General 350, were the Excalibur and the Exactor. Grizz and Woodtek among others have sliding table accessories available, but no guarentees on how they would fit the General. There are plenty of reviews available on the web about both tables. I talked with Phil and got the scoup in his words on the difference between the two tables. Alot of the scoup is hype, but alot of it is right on imo. For example, all the Exaktor tables are made with top of the line materials. No so with the Excalibur. The smaller tables have smaller rails, bearings, lighter materials, etc. One feature of the Exaktor that I like for the 350 is the left wing does not need to come off. I can take it off if I decide I want to, but it gives me an opportunity to try it first without cutting my fence front rail. Phil has the same saw and this is how he uses it. Another feature is the quick connectdisconnect. It takes about 5 miutes to take it off the saw and put it on another machine like my shaper. I'm not sure about the height differences and how that will work out. Also by calling directly, and not ordering through the web site, shipping was about $25 less. Not sure of why, and I didn't pursue it.
One thing that I didn't like was not easily finding the excalibur web site. I know they have one because I've seen it, but I'm not sure how to get there as a google search didn't bring it to the top.
This is about it so far.

I have a 60" Exaktor on my P66. It is well built, and very accurate. It works great for mitreing counter tops and crosscutting plwood. It also has two stops, and the fence extends out to something a little over 9'(IIRC).
I bought the Excalibur dust hood because I thought the design was better than Phil's.
Don,
Here's my Exaktor EX26X. I love it. Phil was great to deal with. There is a full review on my site.

Don, Dave, Terry --
Thanks for the input. I did some looking around yesterday at a Woodcraft store, but all they had was the Excalibur and it wasn't set up on a machine. So, more to do in the way of research, but your remarks and photos sure helped. I have limited space to the left of my saw without moving it around, for one thing. I did notice a new (to me) Jet cabinet saw complete with a sliding table made of cast iron which didn't need to have legs for support. Probably not quite big enough for sheet work, but kinda neat.
Terry,
Thanks for the link, but Phil had given me the link because he said you had well documented the install. You put a great write up on your site which I enjoyed reading.
Don
Don,
Glad Phil was pleased enough with the review to recommend it.
