After having a weekend of sore elbows and fingers, I thought I would vent a little hear and see if anybody had any thoughts on my issue.
I have a Euro-style table saw that uses a bolt (hex head, smooth mostly and about 3/4″ of threads at the end) instead of a threaded spindle for the blade. These bolts get changed out for a regular blade versus a dado.
Anyway, I got the saw new in October and hadn’t needed a dado until now. The bolt was litterally frozen in place and wouldn’t budge for anything . (I know I didn’t overtighten when I installed the regular blade.)
After two hours of rachets, breaker bars and elbow grease the nut still hadn’t budged. As a last resort, I used my electric impact wrench, which did loosen the bolt.
However, now when I use even a regular wrench, the bolt just turns and won’t come out, even with the whole saw arbor locked. I think the threads aren’t part of this, but I can’t be sure.
I’m thinking it’s just a very close tolerance and some tapping might free it, but so far that hasn’t worked.
Does anyone have any thoughts on getting this &#% thing out?
Thanks!
Patrick

Curious as to what brand saw it is? Without seeing it first hand it might be best to get a new bolt. Never seize on the threads perhaps?? Something has changed and if a new arbor bolt doesn't do it or perhaps chasing the threads on the arbor??
What brand and model number saw and what do the instructions tell you about removing the bolt?
I suspect that you probably have a some form of a tapered arbor, that doesn't need to be unthreaded, that will pop loose easily once you know the technique. I would suggest that you stop trying to force it, there's already a good chance, if I'm right, that you have damaged the arbor or bearings.

John,
It's a Rojek PV300, per the instruction manual and tech support people, the threads are reversed. The blade changing procedure involves putting an 1/8" round bar into the arbor and using a wrench to tighten or loosen.
Right now though, it's one of those deals where the head just spins, even with just a screwdriver. Seems like it needs some leverage, like a shim or something, but I don't have a place to put one.
Thanks for your thoughts!

I have a similar rojek saw, the arbor bolt is not tapered and should come right out. Is it the whole assembly that just spins or just the arbor bolt? You might try pulling or lightly prying on the blade and trying to get the bolt out and see if it catches a thread and comes out. If just the arbor bolt spins you might of done in the threads inside. Last time I needed parts they were pretty good and canableized a spare machine for parts.

You are sure you were turning in the right direction? It sounds like you have stripped the threads inside of the arbor.John White
