Have any of you experienced problems with the adjusting screws in euro hinges falling out over time? I have used these hinges on cabinets many times and never heard of a problem. But today, a customer complained about his experiences with them in a previous home and did not want them used in his project. I am interested to see if anyone else has had problems like this.
Thanks, Tom.

There are a lot of different brands of hinges. Some can be junk. I'm more inclined to think the customer didn't know how the adjusters worked. A euro hinge like a Blum has three adjustment screws. You can only get to them in certain hinge positions. Two are the eccentric type while the third loosens the mounting bracket. You have to physically move that plate. Good quality hinges. The eccentrics can't fall out unless over forced. Something an inexperienced person might do.
Some cabinet manufacturers will use self tapping mounting screws and overdrive them, stripping them out. Others use plastic screw inserts, particularly in MDF doors. They can be flexible or pull out. I've seen others that don't use the right mounting bracket and try to wing it with puny stapled on blocks. It's not the hinges fault.
If your customer doesn't want them, so be it. If you talk him into using them and there is a problem, you don't look good. It will take precedence over every good thing you did.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Give the customer a Blum Clip-on hinge and a screwdriver, and ask him to purposely remove the adjustment screws. If he still thinks the gremlins in his house will do it, then more power to them...
