I have numerous scraps of Epi from a deck project. I have been told that this wood would not work for cutting boards. I have been unable to locate information pertaining to toxicity of this wood, and am curoius what others may think of this idea.

Would be IPÊ? A hard yellow-brown wood.A TABEBUIA.
It's not toxic, but the fine powder is a little irritant like any dust.
Difficult to work with hand planes because de fiber is randon crossed.
Wide planks will warp a little in transversal direction. If yours are 1"x4" don't worry about warp.Be carefull with the splinters. Here, ipê is used for decks, floors and strutures.A lasting wood.Fine to make cutting boards. A sirloin steak barbecue will be fine!
Ciao!
thanks all, no wonder my serche for "epi" toxicity led to no hits! Guess my spell check is outdated, lol
