electromagnetic brake for radial arm saw
The electromagmetic brake on my ,ca 1970’s, Craftsman radial arm saw has failed. The failed part is pn 37883,the magnetic coil, and Sears no longer carries it. I have removed all of the brake assy and the saw works fine , except that it has a long coast down time. If anyone knows of a supply source , or how to repair the coil, I would appreciate comments. The coil windings MAY be good

What is the model number of the saw?
It may be possible to track down who manufactured it, and check the manufacturer.
Or, they may have produced a saw for another brand. Emerson made a lot of the Craftsman saws, they also made saws under the Ridgid brand name for Home Depot.
I'm also attaching a plan for an electric brake system I found online. It looks like it ought to work. But, I am not an electrical engineer. So, I can't say for sure that it will. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can look over the plan and make an infomred decision.
elecromagnetic brake for radial arm saw
Thanx for your leads. I had forgotten that Emerson was very likely the manfacturer. The saw model number is 113.29410. You are probably familiar with the saw. Except for the coil , I believe all the brake parts are ok, so my first choice is find or rebuild the coil.
