Woody I have purchased a 1 1/2 horse cyclone from Onieda. I put into service, and after 4 or 5 weeks the impeller came loose from the shaft. I tore it down & looked it over carefuly. I decided to put it together & use lock tight. I also called the manufacter with questions, and they responded with a lot of sugestions. I would have prefered help but I used to move machinery & do a little mill right so I did the work, rather then ship the motor & impeller to them, and waiy for it to come back. They promised that the 2 year warranty would hold from the start up time. Bottom line. I would trust them.

I have a 1.5hp at home and a 3.0 hp at work. Except for one small problem which I'll get to in a minute, I'm very pleased with both. Both machines have the smaller 30 gal. (I think) collector barrels which when full you can invert a contractor-size garbage bag over, turn the whole thing over and the barrel is empty with very little escaped dust. (If you put one of those heavy contractors bags ful of dust, into a compactor, stand back. When that heavy duty bag finally bursts, dust everywhere!!! Might want to warn the guys on the garbage truck,if you're lucky enough to have that service. One of those blowing up in their face might spoil any good will you have with them)
Cleaning the external pleated filter is a breeze. Blast it from the outside with an air nozzlle & empty the clean-out pan at the bottom.
The internal filter on the 1.5 hp unit works great but must be cleaned every time you empty the barrel. This is a royal pain. The bottom cone must be removed & the filter from the exhaust tube above. All the dust is on the outside of the filter so it must be shaken, banged against something hard & blasted with air from the inside in an attempt to get it clean. This is a nasty job. Think dust mask and a full tyvek dust suit & hope the wind doesn't carry great clouds of dust over to the neighbors & annoy hell out of them because this certainly isn't something you can do inside your shop.
The 2 hp w/external filter wasn't available when I got my 1.5 but it sure sounds a lot better then what I have. Guess a note to Oneida about a retrofit for mine is in order. Damn! Another expence.
Oneidas are pricey compared to other home shop machines, but if you can afford one, go for it. You won't be dissapointed

I am running a 3 hp oneida with 16 tube type filters and it works great. Has been in service for five years, no complaints. I have been considering upgrading to a cartridge type filter in the future due to space considerations. I would highly recommend them as a supplier.
