Hey everyone:
I’ve got a question about dust collectors. I have been doing a little research on dust collection systems, and I would like some input. This system will be used in the basement woodworking shop in my new house. I have been really interested in the JET 1200 unit (which the JET reps. tell me is being improved with a new canister filter on top), but I notice that the delta’s have 1 micron dust bags vs. the 5 micron dust bags of the JET!?!? Any thoughts? Although I would love to get an Oneida cyclone system, the cost is probably too much. Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

The Delta has more performance also. The blades are longer etc... Jet is considering putting longer blades on their turbine. Until then I vote for the Delta. I have the 850 (1200 CFM) and like it just fine. The Delta bag is fine and there are other sources for great bags that can actually improve performance.

I have the same collector as John. I've never had a problem with it. The only thing that I can see that could be changed is the band that holds the bottom bag on. It's a little tricky to get on until you've done it a few times, but at the last Woodworkers Show here in Las Vegas, the factory rep told me that they were in the process of changing that. Good Luck, Len (Len's Custom Woodworking)
Wooddog,
Penn State Industries sells 1 micron dust bags to fit most collection units. They also have their version of the Cyclone that has the same features, but with a lower price. They also have 1 micron fabric sheets, if you are ever so inclined to sew your own bags, or create a unique collection system.
