Drying & long term storage outside

Does anyone have a good link for air drying lumber outside and long term storage?

My folks asked me if I wanted the wood from a cherry tree. I’ve done this before and got quite a bit of wood from it. However, that time I had a barn to store the wood in.

I’m looking for any links/article on the best way to store outside and how to dry the lumber. If its just as simple as paint the ends, sticker and put a tarp/roof on the top.

some months ago there was quite a good discussion here on knots. perhaps a search of the archives would help. i do recall that several poster, who stickered, stacked and dried their own, also used heavy weight and/or very tight strapping on and around the boards.
