I’m wondering what are the recommended RPM settings to use with my drill press for various materials and bits.
Thanks

Chris,
Here's a very nice chart courtesy of the competition: http://www.ibiblio.org/twa/info/drillSpeedChart.pdf
In general, for drilling wood the slower the speed the better, until you get down to a 1/4" drill bit size. Larger drill bits easily overheat in wood because there is no lubrication, friction is often high, and the wood doesn't conduct heat away from the bit the way metal would. A slower speed reduces the chance of overheating and ruining the temper of the bit, many of which are carbon steel and as such are easily damaged by excess heat.
