Drill Doctor for $39.99 any good??
Hi All,
I was looking at post 9936.1 Question on regrinding drill bits it seamed that the Drill Doctor is the way to go except for the price. The other day at Sears I saw a Drill Doctor for $39.99 instead of $129. Apparently is the same company selling a unit that is driven by your drill instead of a built-in motor. I was wondering if anyone out there has one?? And does it do a half decent job??
Thanks,
Rickl

I have the one with a built in motor that costs $80 or so. I haven't used the one that doesn't have it's own motor, but I would have to think it would be a pain to attach the drill and use it in that manner. Seems really clumsy if you ask me. That said, my grinder does a great job sharpening bits.
Rick -
I've got the same one Matt does and I agree - if you can save up and get the self contained unit I think you'd be happier. I just wish I could have seen my way to get yet the higher grade unit that sharpens larger bits and allows for setting different angles on the grind. But I can get by with this one - I have literally handfuls of drills from having to run out and buy another one when in a hurry and need something sharp. This unit should save me quite a bit of money over time! (grin)
