I am in the process of designing a corner cabinet for a client’s master bathroom. I am doing this as a upper and lower unit. They want a step back upper. I have included a pdf of the top view of the lower and upper units. I was less step back so I am trying to decide how best to set the proportions.
I overlaid the upper over the lower and want to reduce the step back. I am wondering what the best way to do this is. I have tried lining up the corners but wasn’t sure that the lines would be right. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug

Not sure what your trying to do. Attached is a model shot of a base and wall cabinet with the dimension you show. One has the top setting on the bottom. The other splits them apart.
I suggest you try sketchup. Play around with it till you come up with what you and your client are looking for. It is a lot easier in to create multiple versions of what you are trying to do in model form than any other way I can think of. Have fun.

I would make the same suggestion Peter made and draw it in SketchUp. It would easy to create a 3D model to get a better feel for how changing the step back looks.
I did this in a couple of minutes the 4-9/16" step back is from your drawing. I just added in a 3" line to see how it would look. Of course I haven't done a 3D model of it. The nice thing is that you can quickly make multiple versions of the cabinets and look at them to compare them. Using perspective views also makes it easier for clients to get a handle on what you're doing.
